Dee Handyside is a multi-genre Singer-Songwriter based in Queensland, Australia. Her original songs and music have been featured on TV and radio, magazines, used in public information films and even mentioned in the Australian Parliament!
Her first solo album 'Genetic' - composed and recorded in a hospital and spare bedroom whilst undergoing treatment for aggressive breast cancer, is now an endorsed fundraising album for the Australian Cancer Research Foundation. This is now the soundtrack for the educational fundraising mini-musical 'The Silk Rags Project'.
Dee is a co- songwriting partner in the Peachey Club Music Label and Songwriting business with Steve Hills, with distribution success in ABC Australia shops and online worldwide at iTunes, Amazon etc.
She is a versatile singer/performer who entertains on a solo basis with her bass guitar, ukelele and cigar box guitar as well as in a duo 'DeeLemma' for a variety of venues and events. Dee has previously performed in a variety of pop, jazz & cabaret acts & was a support act to Troy Cassar-Daley.
Dee is a motivational speaker who shares her story from an English village childhood, through careers as a Royal Military Policewoman, a Teacher, a Ranger on Fraser Island to her music career and projects which have been mentioned in the Australian Parliament.
In 2012, Dee was awarded the Albert Electorate of Queensland Australia Day award for her fundraising awareness through the power of music.
